Last weekend, our parish family celebrated the completion of Level One Catechist Formation in Catechesis of the Good Shepherd—and we were especially blessed that the Archbishop joined us for lunch and encouraged us to make this grow!
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is rooted in a beautiful truth: the child already has a relationship with God before entering the atrium, and, like us, longs to know Him more fully and celebrate that love. In the atrium, children ponder the core mysteries of our faith through Scripture and the rich liturgical life of the Church—presented in a way that honors both the child’s development and our sacramental tradition. Adults serve as preparers and gentle facilitators, listening alongside the child before the Word of God. Even practical life work has a purpose here: it nurtures stillness, concentration, reverence, and joyful responsibility for the shared space.
Please keep our catechists, assistants, and families in your prayers as this ministry continues to flourish.

Several members of our English Choir attended the Oregon Sacred Music Colloquium at Mount Angel Abbey, and we’re grateful for their commitment to ongoing formation and faithful service.
Sacred music isn’t a performance—it’s prayer that helps the whole congregation participate more fully in the Mass. This year’s Colloquium focused on liturgical music as prayer and highlighted “the pride of place that Gregorian Chant occupies in the sacred liturgy.” Participants took part in Gregorian Chant workshops, private voice instruction, and lectures with Dr. Jennifer Donelson-Nowicka, and they prepared liturgical music for a Pontifical High Mass, joining their voices “in prayer and song.”
